Introduction
Our gallery contains a wide selection of decorative films for laminating.
However Plastic-Sheets Ltd and our partner Positron Corporation do much more than simply
laminate film to sheet. We can provide a great deal of advice and information, particularly
helpful at the early stages of a project, to help the customer to produce tooling which will
give good yields. In addition, we can advise on the appropriate substrate material for applications.
Experience over many years shows that virtually every project is a bit unique and requires its own

The majority of the patterns in the book are acrylic based films. Most are 610mm wide (24"), but
some are also 915mm (36"). The carbon fibres and many of the solid colours are also of this standard
type film. In addition there are two specialist film groups in the collection; Paint films and Bright
films.
PaintFilm® is a specialist product from Soliant LLC, literally replacing the painting process on a
plastic part. Bumper facias, running boards fascia panels and much more, can be thermoformed with the
paint film pre-laminated to the sheet. The end product looks exactly as though it was painted.
Any colour (even metallics) ever sprayed on a car or truck can be matched and made into a paint film.
Paint films are even a little tougher than paint! Parts on a vehicle produced using this approach
cannot be distinguished from those parts painted in the traditional way. Furthermore, PaintFilm® parts
can be repaired in the same way that a painted part is repaired.
PaintFilm® is ideal for customers who, for example, are involved in the manufacture of; vehicles,
trucks, boats, R.V.'s (inc’ caravans & motorhomes), agricultural equipment, etc. The cost is a little
more than the acrylic based films, but it is an economic alternative to traditional painting methods,
producing excellent and uniform results.
Fluorex® Bright Film, also from Soliant LLC, has a chrome-like appearance and can also be thermoformed.
It is an exterior grade film laminate "Flourex® ISF2010" which is a fluoropolymer clearcoat on a 0.425mm
thick ABS carrier. The colour coat (silver chrome) is 37 to 50 microns.
Customers who have experience running one pattern, can readily change to another without major surprises.
But we firmly believe that it is very important to discuss these materials as early in a project as is
possible. We can offer a great deal of technical support not only in choosing the right materials, but
also in the forming techniques.
